Two decades of ceramic coating, a century of combined experience
A specialist workshop in Montague Gardens, putting high-performance ceramic finishes on metal that isn’t allowed to fail.
Where we come from
Powerkote Cape has been coating parts for Cape Town and the surrounds for over twenty years. Frank Hall started the workshop in 2003, under the wider Powerkote group first established in 1999. The brief then is the brief now: a world-class specialist finish at a fair price; a reputation that took hold fastest, and hardest, in the local motorsport scene.
In 2024, Greg Walker took over operations from Frank, who has now retired. A short while later, Dennis Oettle joined Greg, and they have since reinforced a strong team and are steering the next chapter and the company's long-term succession.
Coating with roots in aerospace
Our ceramic coatings come from thermal-protection technology first developed for aerospace, built to take the kind of heat you find inside a running engine. They bond direct to ferrous and non-ferrous metal alike, ride out the thermal shock of hard heating and cooling, and hold their ground against chemicals and corrosion, flexing with the base metal instead of cracking off it.

High-temperature ceramic is our core work. For parts that never see extreme heat, we fit a premium durable finish instead, always the coating the job calls for, never more.

Greg Walker
Greg's grounding is industrial. He started out in the South African Navy before decades spent across industrial and mechanical engineering, the kind of hard-working plant and machinery that fails expensively when the coating is wrong. He's put in just as long as a competitor in local motorsport, with time in the marine industry besides. That engineering eye, sharpened by a lifetime on the tools, is what he brings to the shop floor.

Dennis Oettle
Dennis is a longtime Navy man who went on to spend many years in commercial marine operations as a skipper. Alongside that, his real passion has always run through motorsport and the restoration of vehicles and motorcycles, hands-on work that's built deep mechanical and corrosion-prevention experience. It's that same care for keeping metal alive that he brings to every part that comes through the shop.
Behind the scenes is the team that keeps the workshop moving day to day, prepping and masking parts, running the ovens, and making sure finished work goes out on time. Their hard work is your quality result!
