Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026

This policy explains how Powerkote Cape (Pty) Ltd (“Powerkote Cape”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It applies to this website and to enquiries you send us.

Who we are

Powerkote Cape (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for your personal information under POPIA. We are at Unit 3, 13 2nd Street, Montague Gardens, Cape Town, 7441. You can reach us by email at sales@powerkotecape.co.za or by phone/WhatsApp on +27 (0) 78 196 8999.
Registration number: 2024/384620/07.

What information we collect

When you contact us through the enquiry form, we collect the details you provide:

  • your name;
  • your business name (optional);
  • your email address and phone number;
  • the type of part or application (optional);
  • the message you send us about what you need coated; and
  • which page of the site you contacted us from.

We also process some technical and security information automatically. When you browse the site or submit the form, our hosting and security providers process your IP address, browser and device information, and request logs to serve the site securely and to detect and block spam and abuse. When you submit the form we run an automated anti-spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) on it.

We do not set analytics or advertising cookies. Our security provider may set a strictly-necessary cookie to detect abuse.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use the information you submit solely to respond to your enquiry and to provide the quote or advice you have asked for. Under POPIA (section 11) we rely on your consent (which you give when you tick the consent box on the form) and on processing being necessary to take the steps you have asked us to take: preparing your quote or reply. We use the technical and security information above to keep the site secure. We do not sell your information.

We only send you electronic marketing if you give us separate opt-in consent, and every such message includes a way to opt out (POPIA section 69).

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers that help us run the site and respond to you. They act as our operators under written contracts that require them to keep your information secure (POPIA section 21) and to process it only on our instruction:

  • Cloudflare, Inc.: website hosting, content delivery and anti-spam (Turnstile);
  • Resend: delivers your enquiry to us by email.

These providers process data outside South Africa (primarily in the United States). That cross-border transfer is covered by data-processing agreements imposing protection substantially similar to POPIA (section 72), and is necessary to provide the service you have asked for. We do not sell or share your information for unrelated purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for up to 12 months after we have responded to and closed your enquiry, and then we delete it. If your enquiry becomes an actual job, the records of that work are kept in our business and accounting records for as long as the law requires (for example, tax records for five years under the Tax Administration Act).

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, and we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We require our operators to maintain appropriate safeguards over the information they process for us.

Children and special personal information

This site and our service are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We do not ask for special personal information (POPIA section 26, such as health, race or biometric data); please do not include it in your message.

Your rights under POPIA

As a data subject you have the right to:

  • be told what personal information we hold about you, and request access to it;
  • ask us to correct or delete your personal information;
  • object to our processing of your personal information (POPIA section 11(3));
  • withdraw your consent at any time (POPIA section 11(2)). This does not affect processing we lawfully carried out before you withdrew it;
  • not receive unsolicited electronic direct marketing; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been infringed.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sales@powerkotecape.co.za. A formal request for access to information is handled under our PAIA manual, through our Information Officer.

Our Information Officer

Our designated Information Officer is Dennis Oettle, who can be contacted at dennis@powerkotecape.co.za.

Complaints

Please contact us first. We will try to resolve any concern directly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
